Everybody enters into New Year with loads of expectations and ambitions but 2020, hasn’t been a decent year up until this point. It began with a progression of terrible occasions that makes everybody contemplate life and its worth.

Here are the few major worse events world went through in these 3 months.

  • Corona-virus pandemic

The latest and current is the ongoing Corona-virus pandemic, which has affected 210 countries and territories around the world. Corona-virus causes a respiratory disease now known as COVID-19. In an attempt to stop the spread, the government has imposed lockdown almost all over the world. Life as we know it has come to a crashing end since the Corona-virus pandemic happened and it left countries struggling to respond to the rapidly spreading virus. People are changing their lifestyle as most of them are in quarantine. Corona-virus has affected many countries, and unfortunately, it is still ongoing. As they say, prevention is better than cure, and the only prevention for COVID-19 is to stay home.

  • Wildfire in Australia

The Australian bushfire started during December 2019, and ongoing till January 2020 killed at least 26 people, burned more than 15.6 million acre land, and destroyed over 5,900 buildings. Many animals lost their lives and their shelter. Rescuers along with local people came out to help the burning animals and saved many lives.

  • A Ukrainian flight crashes in Tehran killing all passengers

On January 8th, a flight Boeing 737-800 crashed shortly after takeoff – killing all 176 passengers and crew members. Life is pretty uncertain, they all must be having different background stories, goals, and aims, but they all vanished within minutes, and such is life, unpredictable and uncertain.

Some other drastic events were:

-Volcano in the Philippines

-Communal riots in Delhi

-Locusts swarms in east Africa

-Kashmir avalanche

The whole world went through a lot in these few months, but I think we should try to find a congruity among negative and positive news. As you know, there’s always room for brightness in the dark. So, let’s look at the brighter side of 2020.

  • COVID-19 halted the world but not healthcare workers

Our real-life superheroes – our doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, and lab attendants are working tirelessly under these circumstances for their nation. COVID-19 might have stopped the whole world and put people into their homes, but our health care professionals are working nonstop for the betterment of the patients. This is why they are our real-life superheroes, and we have to pay them back by staying at home and praying for each one of them.

  • People are spending more time with their families!

Amidst life in lockdown, there’s joy in the family being together. Prior, because of various types of financial and scholastic commitment, it was very hard for the entire family members to go through a week or even an entire day together. However, now, the youth and the old individuals from the families are getting to know one another, which is indeed a blessing in disguise.

  • Nature is relaxed

Since everything has shut down there is no busy traffic, no litter on the ground, no chemical waste and ultimately the pollution percentage has decreased a lot. The world is a greener place then it was 20 years ago. Clear blue skies and a healing ozone layer are one of the most concrete and positive outcomes of this lockdown. It almost feels like the world is taking a break from all sorts of hazardous substances to recycle nature in its most neutral form. Nature is relaxed, and so is our lifestyle. I’m sure, marine life must be really happy these days!

  • Everyone is discovering themselves

From becoming a cooking expert to learning calligraphy and painting, from reading and writing to binge-watching TV shows, people around the world are discovering themselves and being inventive in an admirable way. What have you got to know new about your capabilities in this lockdown? Everyone is locked up at home, and it is the best time to get to know you! This is what the whole world is doing in quarantine. These few months of 2020 taught us a lot about life, and most of all, everyone now knows the value of human touch, hugs, nature, and life.

Truly, this decade has been harsh so far, yet it hasn’t been all awful. Now and then, I feel as if I need a break from the rising coronavirus numbers, and at that moment I decide to think positively, count my blessings more than my atrocities, and spend more time with my loved ones. The world can be a happy place to live if we all come together and take care of each other and make this planet a better place to live.
