As a child, I was fond of fairytales. But as I grew up, I realized fairytales exist only in books or movies. Real-life is never about happy endings. It’s neither that easy nor magical. It’s about ‘grow through what you go through.’ I realized that later on…when I had to go through some difficult experiences in my life. I learned,

How beautiful it is not to give up when every inch of my body wants to give up.

This is what I’ve learned in life and still learning. It’s the art of not giving up. I know that sometimes giving up is easy. But I also know that giving up on something I love or desperately want can cause more pain afterward. So, when I feel like giving up, I always remind myself of a few things and try to get back up again.

Never Compare Yourself with Anyone

The first thing I remind myself is that every person has to live out their journey in life. Their experiences are different from mine, and I can’t compare myself or my life with anyone.

I don’t deny that some people might have gone through a similar experience as me. But that doesn’t mean I start comparing my life with theirs. In the end, it would still be my decision, my struggle, and my journey.

Always Believe in Yourself

I know it sounds cliché. But I never truly believed in myself until a few years ago. Sometimes it can be the hardest thing to do. Sometimes I might have seen myself as a loser in a room full of candidates- waiting for the job interview or questioning my skills.

But I promise it all vanishes away once you start believing yourself. Whenever I feel like I’m not good enough or want to give up on something, I always remind myself how hard I’ve worked for it. And that if others can do it, I can do it too.

Divert Your Mind from Negative Thoughts

I always go to a park or join a fitness class to divert my mind from negativity. Yes, happiness is a state of mind, but sometimes it takes an unusual turn. It takes all the pressure from these negative thoughts and blocks all the positive incoming vibes and thoughts.

That’s why I try to distract my mind from negative thinking as much as possible. I list down all the things that I’m grateful for and try to look at the brighter side of life.

Enjoy Little Things in Life

Enjoying little things in life is my escape from giving up in life. I remember having a bad day and losing all hopes. I thought to myself that things can’t get worse than this. Then I noticed a little street boy enjoying rain without any food or shelter, or even a family to begin with. I realized my problem was too little in front of his problems. But he was way happier than me.

Like I said earlier, I shouldn’t compare my life with others but watching people enjoying little things or doing the same as many times saved me from quitting in life.

Learn from Your Mistakes

I had times where I felt like my troubles were permanent, but my solutions were temporary. Later I realized that it was my own mistake that was pulling out all the positivity in me. I stopped thinking about quitting and corrected my mistake.

So, if I feel like I’m in a situation where I want to quit, I always ask myself this question first. Is there something I’m doing wrong, or is there anything I can do to fix my situation? If the answer is yes, then there’s no reason to quit. I just need to take a step ahead and learn from my mistakes.

Invest in Positivity

I believe a person can become strong by knowing their strengths and weaknesses. There’s no shame in accepting defeat and knowing that I lack skills and knowledge. It’s a good reason to invest in my skills and increase my productivity.

Before even quitting, I try my best to gain new skills, learn something new, do something productive to bring positivity in my life. If it works, great. If it doesn’t, well, great again because I might have learned something from it.

Talk it Out or Rely on a Friend

Some situations are overwhelming. At times, I find myself quitting for no reason. Sometimes I go through an emotional burst out if I find myself caught up in a lot of things.

This is where my best friend plays her part. I realize how lucky I am to have a friend that I can rely on when I feel like my world is ending. I let it all out once and for all.

Never Give Up!

Life is unpredictable, but it’s not worth giving up. I know my little experiences in life have made me stronger than before. I would never give up because I know sometimes an ending can lead to a better beginning.
