We are a generation that has excess to each and everything that happens around the world through this global network called the internet. Different social media apps have been introduced to increase exposure to overall happenings in the world, another main reason to create these apps is to connect people that are far from each other.

Well, these apps with amazing graphics and cool feature has become successful to make people like them in no time, but now we are also observing and acknowledging its negative impact on our thought process and lifestyle.

IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA

When a person spends more than 2-3 hours on social media apps daily and becomes addicted to it then there will be few consequences for sure.

A person becomes undeniably addicted to it and gets trapped into this non-ending loop; by observing other people’s posts and happy captions, we start to assume that everyone is happy and contented in their life.

LAZINESS OR TIREDNESS

First and foremost you will start feeling more tired all the time and won’t be motivated enough to complete your daily tasks.

We do feel sudden pleasure by using social media so our brain will resist doing anything after using these applications because it doesn’t want to do anything that doesn’t bring the same rush of happiness we were feeling before.

UNNECESSARY JUDGEMENT

You will feel few changes in your personality too; we know people judge each other on social media platforms on their color, race or lifestyle. It can possible that you will get influenced by them too.

INSECURITY

There are several influencers or fashion models that flaunt themselves on Instagram and people do get insurance because of that.

They start going on strict diets even if it’s not healthy for their bodies. Mostly teenage girls (age13-19) get more influenced by these things.

It has been reported that due to this bad influence girls become anorexic and don’t eat at all.

NON PRODUCTIVITY

Are you the one who feels like it’s your social media account that takes most of your time and you end up doing nothing productive? Guess what most of us have felt that but we do nothing to improve this situation.

SOLUTION TO THESE ISSUES:

If you also suffer from these issues and want to regain your positive energy and stable mental health then you need to go on social media break.

Let me explain how it works in a few simple steps.

  • Start with switching off your wifi when you want some work to get done, try to act upon this method daily.

  • Now level it up by choosing to not use social media for 24 hours.

  • Use this 24-hour social media break method once every week.

  • At last, try to limit your app usage by downloading any app time tracker.

BENEFITS OF SOCIAL MEDIA BREAK

I am going to mention a few benefits that you will experience for sure after having social media detox.

EMOTIONAL STABILITY

Less use of social media brings the emotional and mental health on track. You will feel more in control of yourself, real talks will fascinate you more than and you will be able to join your friends gathering with more compassion.

FEELING THE REAL WORLD

When we use social media nonstop then we do forget how real-world feels, when you will start dealing with conflicts face to face instead of dealing it online through WhatsApp or Instagram then you will realize how easy it is to solve any issue while not having severe anxiety.

CONTENTMENT IN LIFE

As we compare ourselves with others all the time on Instagram and don’t appreciate ourselves much then this instant break will help you to appreciate yourself and your inner beauty. You will compete with yourself only and will try to be someone better than your own old self.

Unwanted expectations from social media apps that are not reality-based cause people to dwell in regret and they think that they are not doing enough for themselves.

TO LOVE YOURSELF AS YOU ARE

You will start appreciating good things in yourself and won’t adopt anything to achieve nonhealthy goals that are in trending.

The main solution for people having anorexic issues is to stop their exposure to those things that are causing this particular behavior (i.e. social media).

TO ENJOY CURRENT MOMENT

When you won’t feel the pressure to post pictures of everything you eat or of any place you go then you will certainly feel every moment fully and will absorb its positive energy.

TO ADAPT USEFUL HABITS

While cutting off the social media time you will have plenty of time to invest in useful habits such as learning any new skill (art, playing piano) or engaging with your family and friends better than before.
