Depression (major depressive disorder) is a serious medical illness that affects the way you think, your behavior, your feelings and even change your actions. The people who loved you will stay away from you just because you are depressed and you can harm anyone because in depression, you lose your mind and you didn’t even think that what are you doing. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in the activities which you enjoyed doing before it.
Some types of depression are:
Seasonal depression:
This is a type of depression that occurs according to seasonal patterns. It mostly occurs in winter.
Major depression:
This is a common type of depression that most of the people experience. You can have a normal life that others can have but still have depression.
Persistent depression:
This is a type of depression that lasts for 2 or more “years”. Its also called chronic depression. This may not feel as strong as major depression, but it can make daily tasks difficult.
Some common symptoms of depression are:
-
Feeling helpless and hopeless
-
Sleep changes
-
Anger
-
Loss of energy
-
Aches and pains etc
Luckily, depression is treatable, but this cannot be “cured”. It can reoccur but nothing is impossible, we can get ourselves back from and after depression.
Some ways to get back from depression are:
Try to:
-
Set goals
-
Exercise
-
Eat healthy food
-
get enough sleep
However, it is also important to get back into your normal routine after depression. Learning how to be happy again after depression looks quite different for everyone. This can be a frustrating and disappointing reality about life after depression, it is important to know that feeling sad can be a sign of positive progress. Depression is a bitter lifelong challenge that let us learn how to work more and more effectively. So knowing how to be happy again after depression may look difficult and even “impossible” for many but as above nothing is impossible. If you are in the “after depression” side so it may take a bit long time to come back to your daily routines. If you think that your progress is low, you can talk to your doctor and can set some goals by which you can set a benchmark for others who are experiencing depression. But nowadays people are aggressive and they easily give up from all the problems they face instead of fighting against the problem and defeating it. Most of the people have an easy act “Suicide” to get rid of all the problems they face in there life. They didn’t even think that what will happen to their family, friends, etc. Nothing is impossible in this world we can heal all our pain and can defeat all the problems, we just have to follow all the precautions that our doctor recommend us and believe that “I CAN DO IT”. You may lost relationships, jobs, hobbies, your health, dreams and goals, and your self-confidence, But these things can be re-gained once you are out of depression. Most of the people say that “I want to become myself again”, that’s the spirit which you need to set in your mind. You just have to avoid negative thinking and especially you don’t have to feel ashamed to tell anyone that you are depressed because this is a part of life and everyone experiences it. If you are in great shape after an episode of major depression, that means you have done well with depression in fact, you will experience another episode after a long time. More depression isn’t good enough but becoming again the person you were before is a very nice sign. If you are unable to do it by yourself, there are some treatments that may help you come to your normal life.
Then, you have to make yourself happy by involving in the activities you liked and enjoyed doing before the depression.
Here are some ways by which you can make yourself happy:
-
Slowly and gradually try to express your feelings and try to explain and share the things because talking and sharing the things help to release tension and most importantly, help to reconnect with people.
-
Around 7-8 hours sleep is enough for a person, so try to take enough sleep and it would be better to set a time table for all your work so you will have enough time to rest and communicate.
-
Meeting with friends for coffee, tea, etc would make yourself relax and free from all negative thoughts because friends make you happy and everyone enjoys their friends’ company and doing something in which you are goodwill also help you to refresh, like cooking, dancing, etc.
-
Most important of all is to manage your stress level. The best way to reduce stress is to do exercise regularly like breathing exercises because it helps to release tension and anger. Taking control of time will definitely help you to reduce stress.
In short words “Everything is treatable, we just need to believe in ourselves, then we would definitely realize that nothing is impossible”.
