In today’s world, advancements in technology are being made every day. The transport sector has also indulged in different technologies, thus it is now vastly developed. A recent development in the transport industry is autonomous driving.
Autonomous driving is basically that in a car, special software is installed, due to which the car can drive itself to a destination without human intervention. Many big companies such as Google, Tesla, and others have created self-driving vehicles.
Benefits of Autonomous Driving
Reduction in road accidents
In these Self-driving cars, high-end computers are installed, which can make an abundant of calculations in a second. Thus, this would help in the car in taking accurate measurements and avoid human errors due to which there would be a massive reduction in road accidents.
No parking woes
As a self-driving car does not require a driver, thus they can park at any given spot that they find and whenever the owner of the car wants the vehicle to pick them up, then all they would need to do is to press on the car key and the car will pick them up from their destination. Due to this, there would no traffic congestion and a smooth flow of traffic, which is a big benefit, especially for busy urban cites.
Powerful cars
As mentioned before that these cars do not require any driver, thus technicians can make big modifications such as building powerful engines, lowering suspension and etc. By doing such tweaks, these cars have to possibility to go at extremely high speeds.
Following rules
As, humans, we tend to break some traffic rules, due to some reasons. This is not the case with these self-driving cars. All traffic rules are installed within their system and they would follow each one of these rules in every situation.
Drawbacks of Autonomous Driving
Costly price tag
The main reason why most self-driving cars at the moment are extremely expensive is that there is a lot of technology involved in these cars. But as time passes and these vehicles become common, then their price would decrease and become affordable for almost everyone.
Errors
Though these self-driving cars have gone through various sorts of tests before they are handed over to its rightful owner. Still, there is a minor chance that an error could occur in its system, which could prove to be fatal for the passenger riding in the vehicle.
Privacy issue
As there are a ton of software’s installed in the system of these cars, there is a high chance that the company, who manufactures such cars, could have access to all of your personal details, such as your location, your passwords, your contacts, and etc, which you would have entered in the system of the car. Even though the companies claim that they have no track of the data, still there is a loss of privacy.
