Nowadays there are only two big names that come to one’s mind and they are Apple and Android. The fight is between these two mobile operating systems because all the alternatives brands have are dead. Microsoft, for example, stated, “We had no material Phone revenue this quarter.” Today BlackBerry just exists as a brand name and all the new phones that they are now manufacturing are running Android OS.
So in today’s world and for the future, an individual has only two choices when it comes to smartphones. Either it can be Android smartphones or iPhones.
Both of the tech giants have their Pros and Cons which are further to be discussed in the article below.
EASE TO USE
People say that IOS’s interface is much easier to use than Android’s. This statement would be considered true about 10 years ago. Now even android provides a User-Friendly interface. Android lets you attain full control of your home screen and you could customize to your liking. On an IOS device, the most one can do is change the wallpaper and positon the icons. It depends on person to person that if they like simplicity or want full control of their device. Personally I would Prefer Android due to its flexibility.
LOOKS AND PRICE
Everyone would agree that iPhones are just beautiful and feel luxury when they are in one’s hand. The reason for this is that Apple does make only glamourous products that come with a costly price tag. A similar approach is being followed by some tech giants such as Samsung, Google and Huawei. The phones these companies produce are very attractive and appealing to the eye.
It would not be a lie to say that some of the android phones are just ugly. The reason for this is that these phones are produced at only a fraction of the price of an iPhone but the advantage is that they would perform almost as good as an iPhone.
DEVICE SHARE
Android currently owns the majority of the device share because of the wide variety of manufactures, whose devices operate on Android OS. According to IDC, 70% of smartphone shipments were Android in Q4 2012. There is a high chance that Apple would not be able to limit this gap due to the cheap smartphones running Android.
Open Vs Closed OS
Android is an open-source operating system. Android gives its users the freedom to customize the device to their liking. The user could download anything from anywhere on an Android device. The situation is quite the opposite when it comes to IOS devices. Apple has restricted its user to download only from the applications that are provided by the OS. Customization in an IOS device is limited.
Security
This is one department in which Apple completely outperforms Android. Apple devices are also attacked by malware but not as often as an Android device. The reason being is that rules and regulations of uploading an application in an android app store are far more relaxed than of Apple’s. The situation of security is so bad that Google reports that 0.16% of all apps contain malware.
SOFTWARE PREFERENCE
Long time back, one could argue that one app store has a better application than the other. But in today’s world both of the app stores are head to head with each other. The google play store consists of 2.8 million apps while Apple’s app store has 2.2 million apps. All in all both stores contain enough applications for providing benefits to the user.
Bottom line
The verdict is that it depends on the Individual’s needs. If one has a limited amount of cash or wants to truly customize their device as they like and are willing to face security issues then android is the best option for them else if an individual has a good amount of money and is willing to customize their device in
